PRESS RELEASE
The Yale School District takes the safety of its students very seriously and does everything it can
to provide a safe learning environment. This morning, January 23, 2020, law enforcement met a
student in the parking lot as he arrived at school. The student was informed that his vehicle
would be searched. The student voluntarily told them that he had a rifle in the vehicle. Law
enforcement was not searching his vehicle for a rifle, but for other nonrelated items. Law
enforcement immediately located and took possession of the rifle. Appropriate action is being
taken against the student. At no time were any students, patrons or employees in danger. The
District wishes to thank law enforcement for their actions in this matter. The District cannot
comment further because of privacy laws.

Students have been benchmarking for the past week. Today, teachers worked to break down the data and scores from those tests. Each student is analyzed, and then teachers will determined individual needs. #TeachersCare #ExcellenceHappensHere
