This week, we welcomed the Oklahoma Cyber Innovation Institute from the University of Tulsa into our career exploration classroom for an exciting lesson on cybersecurity! Students learned about phishing, hacking, and how to stay safe online. They then put their skills to the test by creating strong passwords designed to take at least 1 million years to crack. 💻🔐

Fun fact about Cindy: I wrecked my dad's brand new riding lawn mower racing the neighbor boys when I was a kid.

About Cindy: I am married to Chris Stewart. I have two step daughters and one bonus daughter. The bonus daughter came to live with me when she was eight, so I consider her my oldest. I have a son at Yale High school and a daughter in the middle school. I have four grandkids and a granddog.

Temperatures have improved and helped some road conditions; however, many roads are still not safe for our bus routes. Yale Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 29, due to weather. We were already scheduled to be out of school on Friday, January 30. These two snow days will be made up on Fridays when the weather forecast allows. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.

Blue and gold fundraiser sales will be extended to next Wednesday Feb 4.

Due to road conditions, Yale Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 28, for a traditional snow day. We are hopeful that conditions will improve enough to allow in-person classes on Thursday and Friday, January 29 and 30. We will continue to monitor road conditions and provide updates as needed. We hope everyone is staying safe and warm. The high school basketball tournament has been canceled. Extracurricular activities are expected to resume once we return to in-person classes.

Virtual day schedule

Yale Public Schools will be virtual on Monday and Tuesday, January 26–27. All extra-curricular activities scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will be postponed. We will reevaluate conditions closer to Wednesday and share an update as soon as possible. Teachers will hold Google Meet sessions and review previously taught standards. We expect all students to participate to the best of their ability. Any students who are unable to participate will receive the work upon returning to class.

Due to the upcoming weather report, our Friday basketball tournament games will now take place on Wednesday. 10:00 11:30 1:00 2:30 4:00 5:30 Updated bracket will be posted soon!

On Wednesday, our Kindergarten classes got to meet some real life Community Helpers! They have been learning all about various Community Helpers and their jobs. They got to learn from a nurse and police officer. They learned what tools nurses use, and how police officers keep them safe. They are so excited to hear from more Community Helpers next week!

Day two of the Yale High School Basketball Tournament begins tomorrow morning.

YPS is certainly monitoring the incoming weather. As a precaution, the elementary has sent home some additional work for a possible virtual day on Monday. We will pay close attention to the weather and road conditions over the weekend before making any decisions. If a virtual day is used, all staff will use their virtual platforms to make contact and instruct students.

The students worked on inventory and centicenter of triangles. They used science and math to construct their own tops spinner. The students used weight and measuring to make sure the balance was correct.

🧪🍇 Chemistry in Action! 🍇🧪

Mr. Hays’ Chemistry students have been hard at work putting science into practice by distilling grape soda into its different components! Through this hands-on lab, students explored mixtures, separation techniques, and the science behind everyday items we often take for granted.

Learning comes alive when students can see, smell, and experience chemistry in action—and this lab did just that! Way to go to Mr. Hays and his students for making learning engaging, fun, and meaningful. 👏🔬💜
