I was informed today, Sunday, by the Payne County Health Department that YPS has had a 6th-grade student test positive for COVID-19. The student who tested positive was exposed over Labor Day weekend and came to school on Tuesday. However, that student has been in quarantine since then while waiting for test results. Please contact Mr. Kennedy if you need further details. He can be reached at 918-855-1993 or rkennedy@yale.k12.ok.us.

Yale Elementary - Ms. Ballard and Ms. Creech have teamed up to work on Bucket Fillers. Our kindergarten class is working on giving compliments and spreading good feelings to others without being asked or prompted. It helps all grow in kindness, self-control, resilience, and forgiveness, all leading to a happier life!

Yale administration would like to publicly thank the teachers and staff of Yale Schools for their preparation and planning for our virtual training day. Their hard work helped the day go smoothly and successfully. We would also like to thank our students and their families for helping to make the day a success. There were a few bumps in the road, but you persevered and worked through the glitches. Thank you for your communication and cooperation. Enjoy a long weekend!

YALE ELEMENTARY- First off, thank you Yale students and parents for letting us practice this day! We learned so much from our test run and were able to troubleshoot some small issues. We appreciate everyone who made an effort to join our virtual classes. We had such high participation that it made this day successful. Hopefully, we never have to do this long term but if we do we will definitely prepared and it will be a time for highly effective learning for students.

www.yale.k12.ok.us Free Meals Announcement September 4, 2020 Dear Bulldog Parents/Guardians, We are proud to announce that effective today, USDA, our school child nutrition program’s policy maker, has extended a waiver allowing us to feed ALL of our students, one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day until the funding for this program runs out on December 31, 2020. This includes virtual, blended and traditional learning students. This does not include any meals in August; those charges will still need to be paid. Virtual students need to call in to your building secretary by 11:00 a.m. if you want to pick up a meal. Meals will be available at 12:30 at each location. You will receive a hot meal for the day and a breakfast for the following day. Please continue to fill out the meal program applications if you have not already done so. These forms are very important for your family and for district funding. This waiver could change overnight so if your family qualifies for the meal program, we want to make sure we have all the information in place so that you do not receive any meal charges at that time. USDA is still working on clarifications for us on this program so there are many questions that we do not have answers for but what we do know is that this is a great opportunity for our students and their families. As a district, because we know this could change quickly, we will not be refunding any money that is already on the students’ accounts. This money will remain on their account when this waiver is removed and we go back to normal feeding practices. We hope you are as excited about this as we are! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at (918) 387-2434 x 3. Go Bulldogs!! www.yale.k12.ok.us

The attached schedule will be used for 6th-12th grade students to have google meets with their teachers tomorrow. We are asking students and parents to do their best with the technology that they have available. This isn't a perfect system, but we are attempting to learn how to best serve our students needs. Thank you for your cooperation!

Parents of 6th-12 Grade students’ We know that there are a lot of questions regarding the distance training day. We would like to address a few of them at this time. If you have questions other than what I address here, then please call or email me and I will be happy to answer those as well. Rkennedy@yale.k12.ok.us We believe that it would best to attempt a one day trial training before the need for a longer closure could arise. Hopefully we will not need to use the distance learning platform, but we do want to be as prepared as possible. Please visit with your children about their google classroom accounts. Teachers have been working with your children for the past 12 school days to help them better understand how it works and how it can be accessed at home. Google classroom can be accessed from just about any device that has an internet connection. Cell phones are not ideal, but most can be used if that is what is available. We are going to approach this training day as if everyone has full access to google classroom at home. We realize that 100% capability isn’t realistic. We need a starting point, and we didn’t want to underestimate anyone’s capabilities. Students that are capable of logging in and completing the assignments will be counted present and given credit for their completed work. Students that are not capable of logging in will be counted absent for the day; however, upon returning to school on Tuesday, they will be given the opportunity to complete the work and have the absence removed. We do not intend for this training to be punitive, but rather informative. Students will be sent home with a schedule of when their teachers will be conducting google meets. These meets will only last about 10 minutes each. If you have multiple students using one device, please have each student attend as many meets as they can. Thank you for your cooperation.

We are experiencing no water at all our buildings. Lunches have been served across the district. We are working to get water for drinking and only allowing emergency bathroom breaks. You are more than welcome to pick up your child without consequence. We will dismiss and run buses at the normal time.
