Ms. Ballard's SEL classes for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade focused on a few things this week: giving, kindness, the Christmas spirit, service and teamwork. Not just the giving of gifts but the giving of time and service to others! They learned life skills and used small motor skills to practice wrapping boxes as a team with no help from teachers. It was a great day of learning!

Students in Mrs. Click's JH reading class are creating board games or newspapers based on the novels they read in class. Project based learning has been an instructional goal for our district this year. It is important for us to incorporate project based learning in our classrooms because it allows a student to demonstrate his or her capabilities while working independently.

A committee of YPS teachers and administrators spent yesterday afternoon analyzing the survey results from parents, students, faculty, and administration. These responses, in addition to student benchmark data and faculty input, will be utilized to set new/revise current school-wide goals. These goals relate to school culture, instructional practices, and curriculum. Thank you to all of you who took the time to complete the surveys in September. You are making a direct impact on our school's future.

Tomorrow morning at 8:30, the sophomores will be taking the Pre-ACT test in the cafeteria. If your child is able to attend, please have them here on time to take the exam. It is a timed exam. Thank you

Mrs. Mangus and Mrs. Painter's first grade classes made butter today. They have been learning about long ago and comparing the past to today. Instead of churning the butter they shook containers until heavy cream turned to butter!
Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving Break!

BASKETBALL
Yale Schools will require everyone, school age or older, entering the gym to wear a face-covering until they have reached their seats. This includes the lobby, restrooms, and concession areas. Please be respectful of other spectators and social distance from those who prefer to wear masks at all times. Spectators that have purchased reserved seating will have priority when it comes to selecting seats. We ask visiting fans and team members to sit on the Visitor’s (east) side of the gym. Please remember that these events are about the students, and we all want to see our hard-working, student-athletes compete.
5/6 Girls and boys and 7/8 girls and boys play basketball tonight at Morrison. Games start at 4:30. Capacity is not limited. Masks are mandatory at all times. Social distancing is encouraged. Yale fans will have designated seating at the South end of both sets of bleachers.
HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY - Even though we cannot gather to celebrate those who have served our country, veterans are always honored here at Yale Public Schools. Our first-grade, Mrs. Mangus and Mrs. Painter’s classes have prepared a song. While our second-grade, Mrs. Neuway and Mrs. Thurman's classes are showing their appreciation to all veterans. Our third-grade, Mrs. Kroll and Mrs. Villar's classes have each recited a poem. Mrs. Jessica organized, recorded, and put together our presentation. We hope to gather together next year to once again celebrate our veterans, but for now please enjoy our short video honor our veterans.

Thank you to Southwest Dairy Farmers for bringing out the Mobile Dairy Classroom to our elementary on this cold morning. We really enjoyed listening to Ms. Reece teach us about cows and dairy. She even introduced us to her cow, Snickers!
